The Demerit System

This system is an indicator that there has been a deviation from our high standards  “Buy-in” which negatively affects our team chemistry.   Demerits will be issued for violations of the aforementioned Rules, Regulations and Expectations for Caney Creek FFA OfficersAny officer receiving more than four demerits during their term will be removed from office, and\or disciplinary action. Remember that you are always a Caney Creek FFA Officer in the eyes of the public.

An officer receiving more than four demerits during their term may be terminated from office,

and\or disciplinary action from the executive board and advisors.

Infractions that require immediate removal from office:

One Demerit Examples

  • Being up to 10 mins late to a meeting (***without prior approval) after 10 mins will count as 2 demerits.

Removal From FFA Office

This contract is active once you are elected to an officer position. Demerits stand the time you are elected to the end of your term. You are required to sign this paper, and abide by this system and the contract rules for your term as a Caney Creek FFA Officer.

Immediate Termination will occur for a violation of the following

NOTE: Advisors reserve the right to place a student on probation with a unanimous agreement and separate signed contract.

Special Notes and Circumstances

The following could result in removal from officer position and possibly the program:

  • Social Media Violation (depending on the severity)

  • Stay away agreements (depending on the severity)

  • Any attempt to weaponize the rules of our chapter to pursue personal agendas.

Social Media is a slippery slope! - No post, comments or images depicting advertisements of tobacco, alcohol, drug use, or inappropriate material of a sexual nature, or post, comments or images depicting in any of the above, may be present on an officer’s social media accounts.

If excused from school you cannot attend any extracurricular events and therefore will not receive a demerit for that scenario.

Adaption Clause

In the rare case that there is a discipline issue not covered by our demerit system, the agriculture science teachers will adapt rules to deal with the situation via the guidance of the CCHS administration. Simply claiming “it’s not in the rules” is not an excuse for poor behavior. A serious violation could result in a recommendation for immediate removal from FFA Office and Program.

Merit Points

As FFA Advisors we try to focus on things that move the chapter forward.  It is our most sincere wish that we never have to issue any demerits.  However, we also like to implement restorative practices.  So in the event that an infraction can be reversed with a positive action, and it is appropriate to do so, the Advisors may grant an opportunity for a Merit Point to be awarded.

The demerit system was explained to me and I understand that as a Caney Creek FFA Officer I will be required to uphold the high standards of the FFA Organization at all levels.
